Rupinder Prem is a poet who was born and raised in East Vancouver. She grew up in her parents’ quintessentially Vancouver homes, from a post- war bungalow to a Vancouver Special. She is currently developing a manuscript of her journey through Hyperemesis Gravidarum - three pregnancies and post-partum. Her debut chapbook manuscript, with an ever-changing collection of poems, is in development through the Simon Fraser University - The Writers Studio (TWS) where Rupinder is a poetry genre group student. In May 2026, her poem, Ultrasounds - Pregnancies with HG, was published on the Hyperemesis Education Research Foundation (HER) blog. It shares Rupinder's experience from loss to a rainbow pregnancy and baby. She lives in British Columbia, Canada with her two children.

Nearly 1/3 pregnancies with HG ends in a miscarriage as the illness increases the risk of early and mid-term miscarriage. This poem is a story of ghosts, time travel and mothering. The ghosts of the narrator's first pregnancy still linger, even after subsequent pregnancies with HG and living children.
