'Bloom through the storm' explores the often unseen reality of pregnancy and the resilience that can emerge through profound hardship. Inspired by the experience of hyperemesis gravadarum, the painting contrasts a dark, turbulent storm, with a vibrant bouquet of wildflowers held protectively against the mother's stomach. This represents new life, growth, hope, and the beauty that continues to develop, even in difficult circumstances.
As a Healthcare worker in the field of obstetrics, and my mother sharing her own story of HG, I commend the bravery of these women who are touched by this debilitating illness, yet continue to fight for the life they're creating.
