Collection: Bethany Aiken
Animals have always been Aiken's passion. From a young age, she knew she wanted a career that involved animals. In 2013 Aiken graduated from the University of Guelph with a Major in Animal Biology. After a few summers of working seasonally at the Toronto Zoo, she joined their staff as a full-time Zookeeper in 2016. Aiken now spend my days caring for the incredible animals that call the Toronto Zoo home. "I am constantly inspired to capture the magnificence of these animals in my art to share them with others."
Art has long since been the other passion in Bethany's life. Over the years it has taken many different forms: sketching, photography, wood carving, pyrography, and more recently her focus has been on acrylic and watercolour painting.
When it comes to painting, there has been a lot of trial and error, and Aiken has no doubt that this will continue.
"I learn something new with every painting I do. It has been an exciting adventure as I slowly explore new styles and techniques and expand my skills. My main focus at the moment, in both acrylic and watercolour, is working on loosening up my style and playing with the use of bold colours."
