Priti Girgla is an Indo-Canadian artist who lives in the beautiful town of Oakville, Ontario, a town, rich in art and culture. Priti’s work has been influenced immensely by her country of birth India and her adopted country Canada. She translates her feelings, her memories and her experiences of life, nature and objects that surround her, into her paintings. She loves painting everything from landscapes, human figures to abstracts.
A Master’s in Education and Community Resources Management, Priti is a full-time professional artist now. Self-taught, she has continued to hone her skills and develop as an artist, taking courses with Ontario artists like John Lennard, Brian Ateyo and Peter John Reed amongst others. Most recently she completed the Art2Life Creative Visionary program with Nicholas Wilton. Priti is an elected member of the Colour and Form Society of Ontario and active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Art2Life Academy, Oakville Art Society, Burlington Fine Arts Association and the Waterside Art group. Priti has taken part and won many awards in Juried Art Shows and in group shows in Oakville, Burlington, Etobicoke and Toronto. She has organized and curated art shows for the Waterside Art Group.
She loves using bold colour, layers of acrylic and oil paints, collage and pastels to work on several paintings at a time. Each painting then takes its own path to completion and resolution still supporting some common elements in the group. Working with spontaneity, multiple layering and a balance between simplicity and complexity creates a rich history on her canvas. The paintings capture a fleeting moment and make it last forever.
