"'I Am An Island' is partly the result of decades I’ve spent with trees, clean water, and fresh air. But it’s also an abstract look at how I perceive we move through the world. There are times we are self-sufficient, self-determined, self-aware and have no problems journeying on our own. We are our own islands! However, isolated as they are, eventually all islands must grow roots to survive and thrive. There is a turning point where we realize that we must return to those who stand closest to our side, weathering storms, and feeding our souls. We reciprocate the best we can.
