Shannie Van Buren

Mural Mural on the Wall specializes in custom illustrations and wall murals for children's rooms, restaurants, hospitals, commercial and institutional spaces. Shannie Van Buren, the principle artist, and cartoon enthusiast, brings her distinctive style to every piece of art she produces, which applies festive colours, robust creativity, intricate detail, and often children characterized in quirky scenes.  She has created characters for children’s books, has been commissioned by Sunnybrook Hospital and received recognition as a ketubah artist for ketubah.com. Residing in Uxbridge, Ontario, she received her Bachelor of Design in Fashion Communications at Ryerson University. Working both digitally and traditionally, she is passionate about character design and children’s illustration and spends much of her free time cuddling with her dog, Storm, cooking delicious meals with her husband, running after her two toddlers and sketching her favourite subjects, animals and children.
