Austin Miller (he/him) is a queer visual artist originally from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and currently based in Toronto, Canada. His artistic journey began at the age of eighteen in Florence, Italy. He continued his studies in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and eventually earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University in Toronto in 2025.
Motivated to understand both himself and his audience, Austin aims to create beauty and inspire hope through his art. He aspires to pursue a degree in psychology to establish an art therapy practice.
Living in Toronto, Austin draws inspiration from the city's blend of historical architecture and modern innovation. He appreciates the contrast between Victorian buildings and brutalist structures, with old oak trees symbolizing memories of the past. Although he was initially frustrated by the city’s chaotic development, he now embraces the beauty in its fragmentation, viewing it as a reflection of his personal growth and resilience.
His grandparents' craftsmanship has a significant influence on his artistic process. Learning from his grandmother and working in his grandfather's workshop, Austin developed a deeply personal and hands-on approach to creating art. Toronto's diversity serves as his canvas, allowing him to transform pain into power and foster connections through his work.
