Stoneground Gouache - Naphthol Red

A versatile mixing colour, Naphthol Red is a clean, intense primary red and an excellent alternative to toxic Cadmium hues.

Artist Notes: Combine Naphthol Red with Delft Cobalt Blue for a lovely plum hue that is very useful in botanicals and for shadows in landscapes.

Paint Makers Notes: Naphthol Red was first used as an artist pigment during the 1920s. The name comes from the Greek word for mineral oil, a nod to the pigment’s petroleum-based origins.
