Stoneground Gouache - Mars Orange

Mars Orange is a dark valued, earthy orange and is useful in a variety of watercolour applications. A wonderful addition to any palette, Mars Orange mixes well with other colours to create an array of useful and interesting colours.

Artists Notes: Mix Mars Orange with Ultramarine Blue to create a range of beautiful, earthy greys.

Paint Makers Notes: Developed at the end of the 18^th century in response to depleted natural pigment deposits, synthetic iron oxides were given the name ‘Mars’. This was in honour of the Roman god of war and our planetary neighbour which contains almost double the amount of iron oxide in its outer layers than our own planet does.
